Attention to DCS and SCADA security continues to grow in Japan. Here are three notes:
1. IPA, a Japanese organization that works with government and industry, has partnered with ISASecure to bring the ISASecure certification program to Japan. Certification is currently available for embedded devices (PLC’s, RTU’s, other controllers), and additional certifications are planned.
2. IPA is having their annual conference on ICS Cyber Security on October 25th in Tokyo. The agenda is only available in Japanese. I’ll be introducing a new talk there that I’ve been working on for a while entitled “You Have No Integrity”.
3. The Japanese government is establishing a new cyber military group that will operate independently of the other armed services. Cyberspace was also defined as “a territory”, which I’m curious to learn more about the ramifications of this.
