You identified three to five of your company’s key mission metrics in Week 10 of last year. This week consider if any OT security incidents affected these key mission metrics in 2025.
If possible, determine the percentage impact of the OT security incidents to all cause impacts. For example, if you are a utility and track customer outages, then you could identify outages due to cyber incidents as a gross number and as a percentage of all cause outages.
Many companies will see that weather, supply chain, labor issues, and other causes will be much larger than OT security incident caused outages. Some sectors, such as hospitals and manufacturing, may find that a cyber incident (in 2022 – 2024 this would be ransomware) is the largest cause of outage.
It’s important you know and provide this information to executive management. Hard data is much more persuasive than FUD.
